My approach I like gardens to echo their natural surroundings. Working primarily on the Suffolk coast has allowed me to build gardens that reflect the coastal scenery, using plants that thrive and grow in abundance in the area, and allowing them to grow relatively unrestrained to create a natural, romantic and informal feel: simultaneously beautiful and low maintenance, with year round appeal.
I strongly believe that plants should be grown in conditions similar to those in which they naturally occur. This has led to one garden which is based on the Sandlings heathland, planted with grasses, tamarisk, silver birch and cistus, all plants which thrive in the hot, dry soil of east Suffolk. | |
